Yosemite # 2

My cousin Chris came into town from Germany to meet his cousins from the US. We met when he was about 4 and so he doesn't remember much of the visit. We wanted to show him something wonderful and thought Yosemite would be great. He was up for it and so off we went.

Andrew and Catherine opted out this time and stayed with their most wonderful Aunt Marcy and Uncle Arron. This gave us the ability to go on more and longer hikes.

Bryson is in front of Nevada Falls. We went all the way up. Round trip it is over 7 miles. I do say it was a pretty good hike.

David was pretty impressed with the water. I love when he points at things. There was also a squirrel that he was very interested in. A warning to anyone who has not been to Yosemite. The squirrels are NOT wild. They have just about no fear of humans and will take your lunch right out of your hand if you let them. (Which we most definitely do not do)

This picture shows just how high the water was running this year. As far as I know, the rails don't usually have that much water behind them. The rocks made a great second barrier. As you can see, David wasn't worried one bit about the rushing water only a few yard from the waterfall. Bryson enjoyed soaking his feet for a few seconds. The water really was like ice. I don't know why anyone would actually swim in it.

Levi, David, Chris and Bryson on the way down. At a certain part of the hike it was like being rained on because of the run off coming off the mountain. Unfortunately all of the pictures of me and Chris are on his camera.

Why hike so high and long? This beautiful view. It almost feels like you are on top of the world. This was my first time hiking so high at Yosemite. It was great. I am so glad we were able to go back.
