Children's Museum

A new children's museum opened in out area yesterday. If you came to the opening ceremony you got in for free for the day. I was all about that and when I told Marcy about it she looked at her calender and the event was already on it. We had a great time. All of the kids had a blast. Marcy and I had fun too, but were a little tired by the end. There were a lot of people there to join in the fun.

The fire department came out for the fun and let the kids climb in the back of the truck. It was a mess. I guess they only clean it out for shift changes.

These two little ones look so small in front of the tires.

The museum had a little grocery store, post office and dress up area. The play food is the most realistic looking and feeling I think I have ever seen.

There were three different toys that used golf balls. All of my kids spent a substantial amount of time with the golf balls. Andrew and Bryson would hold a whole bunch of the balls and get a big group to come down all together.

Marcy was brave enough to take all of her girls into the art room. There were paint cans and brushes on the floor in front of the glass wall that the kids could paint. Once the wall was full a employee would come and wipe it down. You can tell that it had been cleaned a few times before, because it is a little blurry.

My pictures got a little out of order here. When we went outside to leave, there was a woman with a table full of fun critters. David really liked to touch everything the boys touched. Here he is touching a blue tongued skink.

Back inside for a moment. Catherine and Bryson got into the art room while parts of the glass were still nice and unpainted. I never did show David how to go into that room.

Bryson holding the albino corn snake. He had a hard time looking at me instead of watching the snakes mouth. I can't blame him. He is wearing that mask for the fun of it. One room was decorating masks.

Andrew's new dream pet....hissing cockroaches. He was a little timid at first, but soon he had one climbing all over him. The woman there was so great and let the kids hold the animals a lot. Andrew and Bryson stayed and played with the roaches while we went and played on the grass with the younger kids.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the day. When we came out the face painting was still going on. The woman doing it was really good and fast. She painted a lot of butterflies yesterday. These three girls are so much fun. I love them so. After seeing everyone else with their faces painted, Brooklynn wanted her face painted too. Marcy did a little pretend paint for her. The funny part is that throughout the day she had painted her own face with marker and paint.

Andrew and the corn snake. He was in heaven. Yesterday made me smile and really was a day that showed why I am home schooling. I love taking the kids places to explore and really enjoy the world around them. We really did have so much fun.

That was on my calendar too but I woke up and decided it would be too much for the day... bummer! Looking at your pictures makes me wish we had gone. We'll have to make it a field trip some time in the near future!

We had a great time with you and yours. Thanks for managing to take pictures too (that was more than I could do that day!)

I love places like that but didn't want to brave the crowds on opening day. Can't wait to go though now, especially after seeing these pictures. =)
