Our First Field Trip

After three grueling days of school we thought we should take a field trip.  Really we have had it planned all summer because our season passes had free guest tickets this week and so we brought the other Cambridge family along.  This by far was actually our most educational and memorable trip to Discovery Kingdom so far.

The first show we went to was the tiger show.  David was sure to clap at all the right places.

The elephant show is back on the schedule.  As a kid this was one of my very favorite shows.  We were so close to the elephant.  At the end of the show we were able to touch her as she walked around the ring.

Andrew and Bryson took every chance to touch the elephants.  This is a different elephant from the first picture.  She is a "logging" elephant.  She moved some logs and them let us all feed and pet her.  I need to add a disclaimer to these pictures that my camera screen went dark about the time of this show so I had to guess on where I pointed the camera.  I think I did pretty good.

In the butterfly house Bryson's red B on his hat provided him with a fun experience.  A couple of different butterflies landed on it, but this is one that he stood completely still to try and get to land on him.  He was one of the last of our group to leave the butterfly house.

Without a view finder or a screen, Andrew, Bryson and I tried to get a couple of pictures of our favorite butterflies.  This one was in the same spot the whole time we were in there.

The fish were very interesting for David and Brooklynn.

Back to the elephants.  Not sure how I got out of order.  Arron and his girls feeding Liz after her show.  It was really weird because you just drop the treat into her trunk.  It didn't feel quite right putting food in somethings nose.

This kind lady walked in front of my picture, but you can see Marcy and Megan holding there hands out to feed Liz.  Being able to interact with the animals this trip really made it more enjoyable. Thank you Arron and Marcy for coming with us to enjoy the day.

We just happened upon the elephants during our visit there too. I have yet to blog about it. Penny had been asking about how it works when elephants squirt water out their nose just the week before and lo and behold one of the elephants went into the water to lay down and started spraying water all over the place. It was so fun to watch! The elephants were the definite highlight of our visit too! Glad you guys had a great time, sorry we couldn't join you this time.....next time!
